Boxton quote terms

Standard terms

1. Validity. Prices are valid through the date shown on the option. Cargo must be ready and booked by that date; after it, Boxton re-quotes.
2. Conditions on the option come first. Where a carrier's or forwarder's condition shown on the option differs from these terms, the condition on the option governs for that option.
3. Estimates, not guarantees. Transit times, sailing and flight dates and delivery dates are the carrier's estimates. Boxton does not guarantee them and is not liable for delay from any cause, including carrier schedule changes, rolled or blank sailings, congestion, weather, customs holds or exams, strikes and other events outside Boxton's control. No credit or refund is owed for delay.
4. Price is based on what you told us. The price assumes the pieces, weight, dimensions, commodity, packaging, freight class, value, ready date and addresses in the request. If the actual shipment differs, charges are adjusted at the quoted rate basis, including carrier reweigh and reclassification.
5. Not included unless itemized. Duties, taxes, customs exams and holds, storage, demurrage, detention, per diem, waiting time, redelivery and any charge from a government agency, port, terminal or airline that the option does not itemize are not included in the price and are billed in addition when incurred.
6. Carrier surcharges. General rate increases, peak season, fuel or bunker, emergency risk, war risk and similar carrier surcharges in effect on the date of shipment apply when they were not in effect when the option was priced. Boxton tells you before booking whenever it knows.
7. General cargo only. The price covers general, non-hazardous, properly packaged commercial cargo. Dangerous goods, batteries, liquids, powders, perishables, personal effects, high-value goods and out-of-gauge pieces need separate written confirmation before booking.
8. Insurance and liability. Cargo is not insured unless insurance is itemized on the option. Without it, recovery for loss or damage is limited to the carrier's liability under its bill of lading, air waybill or tariff, which is far below cargo value. Damage or shortage must be noted on the delivery receipt at delivery and reported to Boxton in writing within 5 days. Boxton files and pursues the claim with the carrier or insurer on your behalf and passes on what is recovered.
9. Subject to space and equipment. Every option is subject to carrier acceptance and to space and equipment being available at booking. If the carrier cannot honor the rate, Boxton offers the next available option and you may decline it.
10. Changes and cancellations. Once a booking is placed, carrier and forwarder cancellation, no-show, rollover, amendment and rework fees are billed in addition when incurred.
11. Boxton's role. Boxton is a software and transportation management service. Transportation is performed by third-party carriers and forwarders under their bill of lading, air waybill or tariff, which govern the carrier's liability. Where Fox Logistics, Inc. (MC 278915) is the freight broker on a move, it acts as a property broker under those same carrier terms.
12. Your information and documents. You are responsible for the accuracy of the shipment details, commercial invoice, packing list and customs information. Boxton may offer suggestions on documents, classification, routing and timing; they are suggestions only, you make the final decision, and penalties from inaccurate information are for your account.
13. Payment. Invoices are due per their stated terms. Freight charges are payable in full regardless of any claim for delay, loss or damage; claims are handled separately and are not a setoff against charges owed.
14. Acceptance. Selecting an option in the Boxton portal, or confirming it by email or phone that Boxton records, accepts these terms and the conditions shown on the option for this request.

Ocean (FCL and LCL)

• Transit is the carrier's estimated port-to-port sailing time and excludes customs clearance, inland transport and free time at destination.
• Sailings may be rolled, blanked or transshipped at the carrier's discretion; ETD and ETA change without notice.
• Free time at origin and destination is set by the carrier's and terminal's tariff; demurrage, detention, per diem and storage past free time are billed in addition when incurred.
• FCL is charged per container. LCL is charged per weight or measure (per cubic meter or per 1,000 kg, whichever is greater); the CFS measurement governs and may differ from the declared figure.
• For US imports, the importer security filing (ISF) must be filed before the cargo is loaded; penalties for late, inaccurate or missing ISF (up to $5,000) are for your account.
• Containers must be returned clean, empty and undamaged within free time; cleaning, repair and late-return charges are billed in addition when incurred.

Air

• Charges are on chargeable weight: the greater of gross weight and volume weight (length x width x height in cm divided by 6,000). The airline's reweigh at acceptance governs.
• Rates depend on airline capacity and on fuel and security surcharges in effect at uplift, and are confirmed when the airline accepts the booking.
• Cancellation or postponement inside 48 hours of scheduled departure, or a reduction of the booked quantity inside 24 hours, incurs the airline's and forwarder's fees, up to the full freight amount.
• Transit excludes weekends, holidays, customs clearance and delivery scheduling; airport storage after free time is billed in addition when incurred.
• US export cargo requires known-shipper status; unknown-shipper cargo is subject to screening charges and delay.
• Dangerous goods, lithium batteries and temperature-controlled cargo need a separate quote and declaration.

Trucking, LTL

• The rate is based on the declared freight class, weight, dimensions, pallet count and accessorials. Carrier reweigh, redimension or reclassification adjusts the invoice per the carrier's tariff.
• Carrier liability is limited to the new and used limits shown on the option, not to cargo value.
• Accessorials not selected at quote (liftgate, residential, limited access, appointment, inside delivery, sort and segregate, redelivery, detention past free time) are billed per the carrier's tariff when incurred.
• Freight must be palletized, shrink-wrapped and labeled; loose cartons, totes and unpackaged pieces may be refused or re-rated.
• The pickup date is a request to the carrier, not a guarantee; transit is in business days from actual pickup. Guaranteed service applies only where itemized.
• Restricted commodities and consignees follow the carrier's rules (firearms, tobacco, vape, hemp and cannabis products, alcohol in some states, and certain retail distribution centers); tell Boxton before booking.

Trucking, FTL and drayage

• The rate assumes a legal-weight load, live loading and unloading with 2 hours free at each stop unless the carrier's quote says otherwise, and a facility with a dock and equipment. Detention past free time, layover, driver assist, lumper and truck-ordered-not-used fees are billed in addition when incurred.
• Drayage includes the chassis days and free time itemized; chassis, pre-pull, yard storage, per diem, demurrage, overweight and split-chassis charges beyond them are billed in addition when incurred.
• Pickup and delivery dates are estimates and depend on port or rail release, appointment availability and driver hours.

Customs

Shown when the option itemizes customs clearance.

• Duties, taxes and fees are payable before entry and are not extended on credit; a disbursement fee applies if the broker advances them.
• Exams, holds, partner government agency reviews and related storage are for your account.
• Classification, valuation and admissibility are your responsibility as importer of record; Boxton and the broker act on your instructions.
